Developments in Intellectual Property Law in Norway since 2022

1. Introduction and general comments

This article is an extended version of an oral presentation during the XXXVI Nordic NIR Meeting in Helsinki on 2 September 2024, regarding updates on legal developments in Norway. As for the presentation, the purpose of the article is not to give a complete presentation of new case law and legislative development, but to present some selected examples.

There have not been any “landmark” decisions in Norway the last two years. From the Supreme Court there has mainly been cases regarding copyright law, two of them related to music, and the third on a procedural question (section 2.1). They all address rather narrow topics, but they may be relevant in a Nordic perspective in case similar questions are pending.
