Implementation of Chapter 3 DSM Directive in Denmark

By Emilie Nyrop-Jelsdorf[*]Head of Legal Affairs, Edition Wilhelm Hansen.

1. Introduction

Edition Wilhelm Hansen was established in 1857 and we are Scandinavia’s largest music publishing company and part of the British family owned company Wise Music Group with offices all around the world. Edition Wilhelm Hansen works in all the Nordic countries for our worldwide repertoire. Representing Wise Music Group in the Nordics, we own or control over half a million copyrights – including the world’s largest independent holding of historic and contemporary classical music – as well as an enormous range of popular songs.

Working with a Danish music publisher and having the opportunity to be a part of this symposium, I will first of all use the opportunity to deeply congratulate all composers with these new rules that expands and clarifies the protection of the composer. Edition Wilhelm Hansen welcomes this legislation, as our fundamental key value and principle of business is, that everything that benefits our composers is good for us as a publisher.
